The mid-range HTC Desire 500 Android smartphone is now up for pre-orders in the UK. UK-based retailer Clove is now taking pre-orders for the unlocked or sim-free version of HTC Desire 500 for £189 (£226.80 inclusive of taxes). Desire 500 can be pre-ordered from Clove UK in either Lacquer Black or Glacier Blue color. The retailer is expecting the first stock to arrive late in September.
HTC Desire 500 features a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) Display with pixel density of 217 ppi. The handset is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB RAM. It runs Android Jelly Bean mobile OS with HTC Sense 5 UI with BlinkFeed. It has 4GB of onboard storage along with an option to expand it by up to 64GB via microSD.
HTC Desire 500 features an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. The handset has Rapid Shutter Camera that allows you to capture moments in burst-mode, i.e., multiple images in one go. The device is equipped with HTC ImageChip that allows you to capture great shots even with movement and in low-light conditions. The camera is also capable of recording HD 720p videos and also allows you to captures photos in the middle of video recording without any pause.
Unlike most of the latest smartphones from HTC, Desire 500 does not features the BoomSound with Dual-frontal speakers. Desire 500 supports all standard connectivity features: WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, AGPS, DLNA, 3G and NFC. The devices features Beats Audio as is standard in HTC smartphones.
