Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

Samsung has announced their Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet on Sunday, February 24th. With the launch of their Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet they have extended their Galaxy Note series to mid-sized tablets. We already know that Galaxy Note series has two smartphones and a large-sized tablet, now it is available in all sizes with the launch of Galaxy Note 8.0.

Galaxy Note 8.0 is not only a standalone tablet but also has calling functionality, so it is a tablet-cum-smartphone. In look and feel Galaxy Note 8.0 seems to be an enlarged version of Galaxy Note II smartphone. It has identical shape, same physical buttons layout but with a larger bezel along the sides of the tablet. The volume keys are on the same side where the lock key is. The camera on the back on the tablet is mound that feels as if its been fitted on a phone.

The tablet sports an 8-inch WXGA (1,280 x 800) TFT Display. It also has the popular multi-window feature that splits the display into two making two apps accessible simultaneously. Galaxy Note 8.0 features pre-loaded apps including ChatOn messenger, Awesome Note, Flipboard and Smart Remote.

Being a Galaxy Note, the tablet has advanced S Pen that gives you access to S Pen optimized apps, like the S Note, S Planner, etc. The new S Pen is also able to control the physical menu and back buttons below the screen of the tablet, which was not available in any of the previous Galaxy Note devices. Removing the S Pen from its slot automatically activates a menu suggesting you some of the  S Pen features that you may need.

Galaxy Note 8.0 also features the Air View that previews the content of photo albums, preview of videos, emails and appointments in S Planner without actually opening them. It also supports features available to the Galaxy Note II including Pop Up Note, Pop Up Play, Shape Match, Formula Match, Idea Sketch, Quick Command, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Easy Clip, Paper Artist and Photo Note.

Coming to the specs of the tablet, Galaxy Note 8.0 is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM. The tablet will run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean along with Samsung TouchWiz. It is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. It will be available in 16/32GB internal storage along with a microSD slot for extra storage of up to 64GB. It has the standard features of AGPS with GLONASS, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi Direct, USB 2.0 and HSPA+, and is equipped with a 4,600mAh battery.

The tablet is good for those who prefer to own a small-size tablet, either for the reading purpose or for managing their productivity. The tablet can prove to be a good candidate for professionals to manage their productivity giving them access to all their tools all the time.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet will be available from Q2 of this year and will be available in leading markets around the world. Details on pricing will be available near the date of release.
