Rumors have been circulating around the web regarding the name of the next version of Android mobile OS. A recent graphic posted by one of Google’s employee named Manu Cornet on Google+ depicting the evolution of Android ecosystem from a rough “Cupcake” to a strong and bold Ice Cream Sandwich, just like the depiction of “monkey to man” evolution.
Manu Cornet clarified later that the drawing was made based on the rumors/guesses circulating and hence he created the new drawing with the BugDroid (the Android robot) eating the Key Lime Pie to keep the graphic fresh. He also said that if Google announces something other than Key Lime Pie then he will replace the Key Lime Pie in the graphic with that dessert.
So far Google has named different versions of Android in the alphabetical order of names of desserts, starting from Cupcake then Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and the latest Jelly Bean. We will now have to wait and see if Google names its next Android version as Key Lime Pie or something that isn’t guessed yet.
