A recent report on Bloomberg said that Amazon is working on a smartphone that will give a head competition to the iPhone and Android smartphones. A tipster to Bloomberg told them that the plans to launch the smartphone are private and Foxconn International Holdings Ltd. is working with Amazon on this smartphone.

It was also reported previously by an analyst at Citigroup Inc. in November last year that Amazon is planning to release their own smartphone. The plans to launch a smartphone will be a huge benefit to Amazon as they would be able to sell digital products like books, songs and movies to users via their smartphone.

Amazon with the success of Kindle Fire tablet have good chances that their smartphone will also become a huge success if they deliver a quality product with low-cost just like the way they did with Kindle Fire.
