Nokia has launched their 808 PureView smartphone today in an event. The official price of the phone is set at Rs 34,499 but Nokia will be offering a launch price of Rs 33,899. I pre-booked the Nokia 808 PureView on getnokia.in/Pureview/form.aspx a few days back and got a call today to complete the order.
The representative said that there is only a very limited stock available at the moment, which is being offered to those who pre-ordered. When asked about the retail availability, the rep said that the phone will be available very soon without mentioning a date, although FoneArena claims that it will be available in retail stores from tomorrow in Black and White variants while the Red color would be available later sometime.
The phone features Nokia’s award-winning PureView technology with Carl Zeiss optics. It has a high-resolution 41-megapixel camera with new pixel oversampling technology to give sharper pictures. The phone has a 4-inch AMOLED CBD display with a rather disappointing resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. The phone features a 1.3GHz single-core processor while the market is full of dual-core and quad-core powered smartphones. It comes with 512MB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD slot for external storage up to 32GB and supports WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, HDMI, NFC, DLNA and GPS.
The phone was previously reported to be available at the end of May, but it was delayed and last week Nokia said that it will launch in mid-June. It is now being offered to those who pre-ordered. The phone will be available for purchase soon at the online Nokia Shop.
