There are only two smartphones that have on top among the most anticipated smartphones of this year, Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple’s next iPhone. Samsung Galaxy S III was launched last month at the Samsung Unpacked event in London. Post launch the Galaxy S III recorded 9 million units pre-ordered worldwide within only one month. Apple’s next iPhone, presumably iPhone 5 was not yet announced but there have been many rumors circulating around the web.
Galaxy S III was launched with power of Samsung’s quad-core Exynos 4 Quad platform with 1GB RAM and running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone sports a massive 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. It features an impressive 8-megapixel camera that can shoot 4-6 shots per second in a second. The camera is also capable of HD 1080p video recording. The front-camera is capable of monitoring your face via Smart Stay feature to judge whether you are looking at the camera or not, accordingly it keeps the display awake or on standby. Other features that are introduced in the Galaxy S III are Pop Up Play, S Voice personal assistant, Direct Call, Smart Alert and some of the others. All these new features and great specs is what makes Galaxy S III “the next thing.”
But when we hear about Apple’s iPhone we again think, “Is Samsung Galaxy S III the only big thing?!” Well both the smartphones have always been on top whether it is about rumors, leaks, sales or fans.
The next iPhone, as we know, is yet to be announced by Apple. But there are numerous rumors and leaks that makes us wonder what the next iPhone would be like. Let us tell you what we have until now about the iPhone 5. The next iPhone is reported to have a quad-core processor, assumed to be called Apple A6. Unlike the iPhone 4S, the next iPhone is rumored to have unibody back panel which in iPhone 4S comprises of a metal plate in the middle with a glass covering at the back. Headphone jack is also reported to have moved to the bottom of the phone, front-camera is moved right above the phone’s earphone, a new smaller dock connector for charging or connecting to a PC. The phone is also expected to feature LTE connectivity that most of the smartphones today supports.
The display of the next iPhone is rumored to be 4.08-inches diagonally featuring Retina Display. Some of rumors also reported that iPhone 5 will feature 4.6-inch Retina Display while others reported that it will have a curved glass screen. The camera in the iPhone 5 will be 8-megapixel with smaller sized sensor. The phone is reported to launch in September or October this year. The next iPhone is reported to support NFC heavily and will launch running iOS 6. It will be launch after the release of the iOS 6, which is now available for download for developers.
When we compare the specs of Samsung Galaxy S III and rumored specs of Apple’s next iPhone, we can say that there is not much of the difference between the two. What we now have to see is whether there will be any new features that iOS 6 will offer to iPhone compared to what Samsung has introduced in Galaxy S III. Will the next iPhone be able to surpass the success of Galaxy S III? Let us know in comments what you think.
