Nokia 808 PureView to hit shelves in May, Russia and India to get it first

Nokia today announced on their Conversations blog that the Nokia 808 PureView will start hitting the shelves round the world in the month of May. It will be available initially in Russia and India. The actual release date will be announced very soon.

In India the Nokia 808 PureView is expected to carry a price of around INR 40,000. The device was announced at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. It received the Best Mobile Device at the event and also received Best Imaging Innovation for 2012 recently from Technical Image Press Association (TIPA).

The phone features a 41-megapixel high-performance sensor, Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia’s pixel oversampling technology that captures stunning photos. The camera can zoom up to 3x (digital) without compromising with the quality of the photos. It is capable of recording HD 1080p video with high-quality CD-like audio recording.

Nokia 808 PureView also features exclusive Dolby Headphone technology, includes Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 surround playback.
