Google from today has started selling mobile phones starting with their Galaxy Nexus Android smartphone via their Google Play Store. The phone will be available for purchase from the new Devices Section of the Google Play Store.
It was also said previously that Google is planning to own an online store specifically to sell their devices directly to consumers without any carrier operator in picture. It was reported that Google will launch the online store to offer subsidized Nexus tablets directly to consumers. Google has been rumored to be working for the past couple of months on Nexus Tablet partnered by ASUS for the tablet’s manufacturing.
The phone is available for purchase initially only in the US for $399 and that too without any contract, that means the phone will be unlocked and can be used on any GSM network. It will come pre-installed with Google Wallet app and a $10 credit in the Google Wallet account.
Google promises to bring the availability of the devices via Google Play Store to more countries soon.
