Philips to launch Android 4.0 tablets with MIPS processors

A report on Liliputing says that Philips is planning to launch line of tablets running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) mobile OS. The tablets will have 7-inch displays and will feature MIPS processor rather than the ARM or x86 processors.
Liliputing also says that Google is planning to build better support for MIPS based products in future versions of Android mobile operating system. The specs of the tablets have not been revealed but it is reported that the displays will have the resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels or 800 x 480 pixels depending on the model of the tablet. The tablets are expected to run 4 to 5 hours on a single charging and will support media codecs like MP4, H.264, WMV.
It is also reported that Philips plans to launch their line of tablets only in China. No further plans have been reported for the global launch of these tablets.
